It is best to use these DI filters as a post filter to reverse osmosis to maximize the life of the DI resin.How Substances Are Separated by a MembraneReverse Osmosis/De-Ionizing uses a semi-permeable membrane that allows fluid that is being purified pass through while it rejects the remaining contaminants down the drain. It is always a 1:4 ratio.
